Travelling

Assalamualaikum

Travel? What do you have in mind when I the word TRAVEL comes across your mind? According Shalilo's dictionary, travel means a movement from a location to another location.

I believe, by traveling, you will discover a lot about the world. Just by looking or watching the surroundings.

Benefits of travelling:

1. Get to know other cultures.

2. Get to learn other languages, besides your mother-tongue.

3. Get to understand the world better. When you have seen a lot of things around you, you will understand why certain things happen in that way.

4. Get new friends & connections.

5. Get to understand the meanings of sign language. Bear in mind that different country/culture have different meanings even though the signs are the same as ours.

So, if you have time and extra money, please do not spend it for shopping. Go travelling instead. Okay? The benefits are uncountable! What I have mentioned earlier is just a portion of everything.

Kuantan - Journey as a Research Assistant with an American

Assalamualaikum

Heyya peeps! How are you? I hope you are well. Please pray for mine too, aite?

Currently, I am in Kuantan. I am working here alone. I am working with an American lady. She is from Yale University. She must be very brilliant! Glad to have been given an opportunity to work with her. Alhamdulillah!

My job is to translate whatever she says to Malay. I am like a mediator between her and the people in Kuantan. Doing this job is very interesting, even though my vocabulary is not that like a dictionary. I do have issues such as ...

1) Unable to find the exact word. So, just make a sentence that conveys the same meaning.

2) Unable to understand the 'loghat' of Terengganu. I never knew that Kuantan is full of people speaking in 'loghat' Terengganu.

3) Dealing with old people with missing teeth. I am not making fun of them. Please get this clear, okay? Huhuuu~ It is just that I could not understand the way they pronounce certain words. They sounded weird and airy. I am sorry makcik & pakcik. I had to ask them again and again in order to understand what they were trying to say.

4) Hot weather.  Kuantan is very hot and spicy! I just started my fieldwork today and my skin is already dark. I can see my watch on my wrist, even though it is not there (do you get me?). huahuahuaaaa~ I have two skin tones, light brown and dark brown. Very exotic, aite? haha!

So, above are a few of the issues that I encountered today. Hopefully tomorrow will be waaaaaay better than today.

Now, I need to translate a long questionnaire.

I'll get back to you later. Tata~

Goodbye to my Undergrad Life

Assalamualaikum

I, Felisha Lilo, hereby declare that I am unofficially graduated. Yeaaayyyyy!!!! I will be officially graduated after I receive my final exam result, which might be on the 20th of June. I'm counting down the days. Let's count together and enjoy the happinesssssss!

Well, all i can say is that I am quite nervous with my future. I am wondering how my life would be in the next few months and years. Can you foresee yours? Maybe you can. As for me, I do have plans in my life but I love unexpected events. I do not prefer to do things routinely as i get bored easily. VERY EASILY. So, the conclusion is I can't foresee my future BUT I can see the tiny skeletons of it. Muahahahaha!

So, alright then, say Congratulations to myself.  :)

Let's pray for my future. Cheers!

Wassalam.

Sick People Are Those With ...

Assalamualaikum

Sick people are those with ...

1)  ... Power

Power! Yes! Why? Because they think they can do anything with their power. True? They think they have the rights over everything. They think they can overright all rights in this world. Pooodaaahhh! They forgot that they ONLY have power at certain locations.

For example, this lady is a CEO of a company. Of course she has the power but only in THAT company. Not at other places. Other people won't know who she is! Nobody cares about her status, even if she wears a name tag stating she is a CEO of a company. People don't care because that is not their business. That is her business in her company. Her title is invalid once she is outside her company. They know you as a human, same like them.

So, stop being snobbish. You are just wasting your time and making yourself a piece of joke! Muahahaha!

2) ... Money

Money! Indeed! Yeeeaaahhh! We can see sooooooo many of these people nowadays. They think money can buy anything. They think money is everything and can solve all problems. Really??? They think money is like paper, where they think RM1 million is like RM10. Can you imagine how small the currency is? To them.

For example, bribery. Yeaaaa, I know. I know what you are thinking but I can't say much since a new act regarding online thingy (Evidence (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 2012) has been implemented. Basically, people who have lots of money will think that they can buy anything or resolve any problem with money. So, they will give money in exchange to fulfil their interest. So stupid, right? But there are people who will disagree with my statement because they think it is stupid to not accept the money and prolong the problem. Well hey, in MY opinion, those who accept the money are stupid because people can easily control you by using money, not your mind! and THEY also think you are stupid due to the same reason too! Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Blinded by money and a laughing-stock.

If you ever see my name in your list of employee, sorry, I DO NOT accept bribery. I don't want to ruin my bloodline with bribery or be manipulated by those people.

3) ... Big & Expensive Car

Big car! Really! They think all roads & highways are theirs. They think they are the king or queen of the roadsssss. They think they have the exception of not using their signal lights, speeding, ignoring traffic lights etc. That's why we can see cases like the latest one, the Ferrari case in Singapore. Due to that ONE car, it took a few innocent lives.

Signal is very important in order to show your intention. Where you want to go. You can't simply turn left or right or which ever way you want to go. I HATE THIS SO MUCH. Ggggrrrrrr! It is easy to signal. You don't need a flag and wave it outside your window, do you? Big brand new car. Electronic. All in one. Just name it. The drivers SHOULD or MUST go for JPJ test again. In my opinion, they should be checked annually on their driving style. They are the worst drivers ever. Not all but almost 70%. The bigger & more expensive the car is, the driving style gets worse. Dear readers, you can try to observe a few. See if my theory is correct.

They also tend to park anywhere they want. Be it in the middle of the road and blocking others and make a poker face; on the shoulder of a busy road; at a non-parking place; and at the Disable-person space (i saw the people were very healthy!).

Another thing that I dislike is queue cutting. Why can't people just follow the traffic and wait for their turn? 'YOU' are not the only ONE who has errands to be done A.S.A.P. We also have ours! Do not be selfish. Please think of others too. Please understand that they are also facing the same thing too but they have  PATIENCE & RESPECT for others.

So, please follow the traffic rules. What is the problem of following the rules? If everyone follows, I bet the traffic will be smoother than now.

4) ... Branded Items

Branded items! Totally! Happens mostly among females. There are females who have issues when it comes to brands. The BIGGER and BOLDER the brand, the better! Haha! Funny, aite? But it is a serious matter to them. They are so mad about it up to a point they questioned the originality of the product.

Questions they normally ask:

a) How much it costs?
b) Where did you buy it?
c) Can I smell (to prove the originality)?
d) Are you sure? It looks a bit tacky.

and thousand others...

The minor version of these people will parade their stuff. The major or worst case scenario is that they will compare their stuff with others and say their stuff is waaaaay better than the rest because it is more expensive. They will keep on talking about their stuff everytime. If they know someone is wearing a cheap brand or unknown brand, they will say it is fake.

This is so annoying. In reality, some branded items are not beautiful. No sense of creativity. As for clothes, they are so thin, can even see the skin! What is the point of buying expensive things if it is not nice and easily be torn apart. Some may argue that we pay for the quality. Yes, I agree but only for certain stuff and only if it is worth the price. Sometimes, we can get the same quality at a cheaper price. So, why pay more if you can get less? I believe, we mostly pay for the brand

The Best of Friends (Bestfriends)

Assalamualaikum

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

They are like candy. We choose them according to which we like. However, sometimes, we can simply be friends with others not according to our interest but due to an element, BOND. We have no reasons for it or why or how a friendship started. It is simply 'that' something that creates the bond.

We can have many friends. Tonnes of them. BUT... The best ones are hard to find. In order to get the best, we have to go through many stages of life. Until then, you will discover your true friends.

1. Childhood Friend

I discovered my first bestfriend when I was still young. Can't remember how young I was. She is my neighbour, until now. Our friendship has been going on for nearly 20 years, if I am not mistaken. So, due to the 'long-term'ness, the bond is strengthen over time and we have understood each other very very well. We are available for each other when in need. Though we had experienced problems, misunderstanding, etc, we managed to overcome and continue our friendship. Of course there were a few nitty-gritty issues but we just have to swallow it and ignore it. Some small issues should be straight-away be deleted, not worth to make a commotion. As we get older, we have different mission in life, different way of life and many other differences. Sometimes we planned to meet up but cancelled at the very last minute due to personal matters. So, we try to understand each other, try to make time and follow the flow. That's how it works.

2. Room mates

Room mates are the next group of people who can be considered as close to us (in my opinion). I have great room mates over my five years of staying in hostel. Before this, I never trust any of my room mates because I am afraid if I overtrust them and they will take me for granted. So, again, over time, I observed my room mates and chose a few to be my good friends. Whom I can trust and rely on. Until now, we are still good friends and bestfriends too! Our friendship also gone through the same stages of life where we encountered a few life crises. Haha! I remembered it was horrible and terrible. However, because of those crises, we understood each other better and became even close to each other. We have graduated, unofficially (not yet convo) now but we still keep in touch and text each other every now and then. We miss those time when we were staying together, through the best and the rough time.

So, this is my story about bestfriends. Not much, really. I know. =D

I just want to share it, in case any of you is having a thought on this topic. I will add more if I can think or recall anything.

Maybe you have different ways of getting a bestfriend. Everyone is unique. Everyone has his/her own story.
